Moshi Monsters

This was a first for me.  Before the order, I had NO idea what a Moshi Monster was!  This little character is called Shelby, which was the name of the little girl whose birthday it was.  The client wanted the cake covered in buttercream rather than fondant, and her favorite color is red.  Making a decent true red buttercream is very difficult, so I decided to make the design rather whimsical in order to include several different colors, which also matches the overall theme of the Moshi monsters, which is very colorful and, well, a little crazy - in a japanamation sort of way!  The little characters on the cake were toys, as requested, but the large one on top was hand-made with fonant & gumpaste.
